Patti Newton rugs up for a chilly Melbourne day as she leaves the hospital after visiting husband Bert following his leg amputation surgery


Patti Newton revealed her TV legend husband Bert suffered ‘complications’ following a procedure to have his leg amputated earlier this month.

And on Tuesday, she was seen leaving Melbourne’s Epworth Hospital after visiting him.

The 76-year-old was seen with a face mask on and a sticker on her coat that read: ‘Authorised Visitor Tuesday.’

She looked cosy in her brown fur coat with animal print leggings and boots.

The singer and stage performer carried a matching animal print tote and a bronze crossbody bag. 

Noticeably missing was the moon boot on her right leg, which she wore after breaking her ankle in a fall.

She shared a photo of Bert in bed, enjoying some dessert as he chatted with his wife of 47 years.

On Monday, she wrote: ‘After a couple of complications, Bert is doing well with a little rehab and lots of laughs and love.’

Bert’s toe became infected before Christmas and he was experiencing unbearable pain before doctors amputated his right leg just below the knee on Saturday, May 8, in a life-saving operation.
