Kyle Sandilands talks marriage and children with girlfriend Tegan Kynaston

Radio presenter Kyle Sandilands has opened up about his relationship with girlfriend Tegan Kynaston in one of his most revealing interviews to date.

The 50-year-old, who last week toppled Ben Fordham to become host of Sydney’s No. 1 breakfast show, spoke to Daily Mail Australia about the notoriously private couple’s plans for marriage and children – and how they hope to expand their multimillion-dollar business empire, King Kyle Pty Ltd.

The radio veteran, whose previous marriage to pop singer Tamara Jaber lasted just two years, said another wedding ‘isn’t off the cards in any way, shape or form’.

He also said fatherhood was becoming a more appealing idea the older he gets, and he hasn’t ruled out having children with 35-year-old Kynaston, who is the director of communications for his company.

‘When you find the right person, things just feel right and it feels very natural to just go down that road,’ Sandilands said of the prospect of marriage.

‘Of course we’ve discussed it, 100 per cent. We haven’t set any dates or anything – we haven’t even got engaged yet, so I’ve got to do one thing at a time,’ he added.

‘We’re in a good place, and that’s a good thing.’

The couple, who went public with their relationship in January 2020, were the subject of engagement rumours last month when Kynaston was pictured trying on diamond rings at the House of K’dor luxury jewellery store in Sydney’s Double Bay.

‘We had a laugh about that,’ Sandilands said of the pictures.

‘She was getting my birthday present down there, and the lady was like: “While you’re here, I might as well pop out our engagement ring collection.”

‘Tegan told me the woman did show her some really beautiful rings. So those things always come up in discussion in relationships. It was funny to see those photos.’

Sandilands revealed the pair had discussed starting a family together in the future, but admitted he’d never really ‘pined’ for fatherhood.

‘I’ve always thought that I’m definitely going to have kids at some stage,’ he said.

‘It’s just never felt right. I’ve never pined, never thought, “I wish I had a little son to watch at the recital.”

‘I’m never going to be that guy on a Saturday, miserable at the park watching his kid play football. It’s only been as I get older that I think, “Maybe that is something that I want to start looking at.”‘

But when it comes to 3am feedings, Kyle confessed he doesn’t plan to lift a finger.

‘I won’t be looking after it,’ he said. ‘I won’t be getting up in the middle of the night and all that s**t.

‘There will be a Fijian nanny on the payroll. I say Fijian because they’re very kind and I spend a lot of time in Fiji and I thought, “That’s who I want to mother my children.” Tegan also agrees that a Fijian woman would be better than either of us.’

Sandilands and his long-time co-host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson officially became Sydney’s No. 1 breakfast radio duo after the fourth survey of the year was released last Tuesday.

KIIS FM’s Kyle and Jackie O Show surpassed Ben Fordham’s 2GB program, making them the market leader across both AM and FM bandwidths for the first time.

But radio is just one branch of the Sandilands’ ever-growing business empire.

He has achieved success with coconut water brand H2Coco, alcohol range Nueva Sangria and television shows including Luxe Listings Sydney, which King Kyle produced for Amazon Prime Video.

‘The King Kyle group is a concept company, and we came up with this listings show. We knew we needed to make something big and international,’ he said.

Luxe Listings, about Sydney’s exclusive Eastern Suburbs real estate market, has been called Australia’s answer to Netflix’s Selling Sunset. The show launched on July 9.

Sandilands says King Kyle certainly has its hands full at the moment, but there are plans to expand the empire in the future.

‘We have a few other TV formats that are in development, a couple of big international series that we’re working on,’ he continued.

‘We just tap along in the background and when something’s ready we bring it out and show everyone.’

Sandilands and Kynaston’s relationship came as a surprise, following his split from ex-girlfriend Imogen Anthony, 30, in November 2019 after eight years of dating.

He told listeners at the time they ‘hadn’t been living with each other’ for quite a while and that their relationship had ‘run its course’.

In June, Anthony shared a cryptic post on Instagram which read: ‘I’m ready to tell the truth’ – coincidentally while Sandilands was celebrating his 50th birthday on a superyacht in Sydney with Kynaston, their friends and colleagues.

Some questioned whether or not the message had something to do with her ex-boyfriend, but Sandilands claims it ‘probably has nothing to do with me’.

‘I didn’t know anything about that,’ he said. ‘It’s been two years now [since the break-up]. It’s rolling on. I never really see anything that she does.’

Prior to his relationships with Anthony and Kynaston, Sandilands was married to singer Tamara Jaber, from the band Scandal’us, from 2008 to 2010.

He insists there is ‘no bad blood’ between him and any of his former partners.

‘I’m not one of those guys who is “best friends” with the ex. I don’t do that,’ he said.

‘Not that I hate them; I just don’t feel the need. There’s no bad blood between me and any exes, ever.’

When asked about claims he’s supporting Anthony financially, Sandilands added: ‘Because we were together for a long time, it was a normal de facto thing. It’s not like I’m handing out pocket money; it’s certainly not that sort of situation.

‘She’s got what she was entitled to and what she deserved after eight years with someone.’
