Sky the man-hating parrot who squawks ‘come on!’ moments before she bites their fingers is returned to her owners after proving too much for burglars who stole her

A man-hating parrot who is known for shrieking ‘come on’ before biting men she doesn’t like has been returned to her owner more than a month after she was stolen in a burglary.
The 20-year-old bird, called Sky, has been returned to her home after thieves had apparently sold her to a new family who recognised an appeal.
Sky had disappeared after owner Sarah White returned to her home near Bicester, Oxon., in June to find it had been ransacked.
As well as the missing parrot, thieves had also stolen jewellery which belonged to Sarah’s grandmother.
Ms White issued an appeal on social media warning the thieves that Sky hates men, and that she would have put up a good fight by biting their fingers.
She described how Sky, a pure African grey, often shrieked ‘come on’ and sang ‘do, do, do’ as well as saying her own name.
Issuing an appeal for her safe return, Sarah described how Sky could not fly very well and walked everywhere as she offered up a reward for the safe return of her beloved pet.
She added: ‘She hates men! Only likes me. We think she was bundled into a laundry basket and taken. No food or drink. I’m absolutely devastated.
‘I just want her back safe and sound. She makes very distinctive noises, she says ‘come on’ all the time. She says her name, sings ‘do do do’ and makes kissing noises.
‘I hope whoever has got her has lost all their fingers from her biting them and didn’t get any sleep last night.’

The appeal proved successful as Sky was returned to a delighted Sarah at the weekend after the family who had bought her spotted it despite being 40 miles away in Bedfordshire and got in touch.
Ms White said: ‘They (the occupants of the property) had seen the appeal and contacted us. I knew from the pictures that that they sent that it was Sky.
‘We went to collect her and I had a little cry in the car because it was quite emotional. She was really happy to see me and was talking to me.’
Ms White said Sky looked fine when she picked her up and did not look as though she had lost any weight. She smothered the parrot with love spoiling her with her favourite food.
‘It’s too early to say whether there will be any problems with her but she seems totally fine. I’ve just been trying to get a vets appointment to get her checked over.
‘When we got home, I gave her all her favourite food because I doubted she’d been having those. I gave her nuts, vegetables and all the things that she really likes. She was a very happy bird. She’s probably not had a bath so she was able to do that as well.
‘It’s been nice to hear her voice like this morning when I was going to work she was telling me to ‘come on’ and ‘ get going’.’
