This is the moment a bulldog threw his owner’s workout session into utter chaos when he managed to get his head stuck in his bowl.

Theresa Stangoe, 41, was working out on her treadmill at home in Nuneaton, Warks, on July 23 when pet pooch Boris decided it was time for a snack.

Footage shows the 18-month-old American bulldog sniffing at the kibble in the bowl, before being distracted by something on the floor through an empty slot in the stand.

Intrigued, Boris shoved his head through the hole but quickly realised his mistake and was left thrashing his head around trying to release himself, throwing the kibble all over the floor.

Theresa jumped into action and tried to get hold of Boris. However, the mutt had gone berserk and was blindly tearing around the room and out of the door.

Meanwhile the family’s other dog Steve – a Dogue de Bordeaux – ran over to check out all the commotion.

Theresa eventually managed to get the bowl off Boris’s head shortly after the video cut and immediately went to call her husband Jason, 43, to tell him the funny story.

He said: ‘Boris had obviously spotted a biscuit on the floor through the hole and gone for it. I’ve no idea why he didn’t just eat the bowl full of food that was right next to it.

‘He’s never done anything like this before, which is why it came to be such a surprise for Theresa.’

He added:  ‘She did panic at first as she wasn’t sure how easy it would be to rescue him.

‘Once he was free she found the funny side of it. She rang me straight away laughing to tell me to check the cameras and see if it had picked up anything up.

Jason Stangoe, 43, said Boris is fine now and has no problems with his food bowl now

Jason Stangoe, 43, said Boris is fine now and has no problems with his food bowl now

‘He shares that bowl with Steve. We leave their food for them there all day but the other bowl was being washed in the kitchen, hence the gap.

‘Fortunately, it doesn’t seem to have left a lasting impression on him. He’s been fine with the bowl ever since but I think he’s learned his lesson.

‘He might not have done it before, but it didn’t surprise me. Boris can be a bit of a character.’
