‘Most of my tattoos came because I’m very fair and I have a tendency to scar when I get any kind of cut,’ she said.

‘I’ve had surgeries for different things, and if the scars didn’t heal properly, I just gotta put tattoos to take the sting out,’ the crooner said.

‘I don’t have the real heavy, dark tattoos. Mine are all pastel. And I have more than one!’

Dolly’s previously told Good Morning America in 2019: ‘If I have to get a scar for any reason, I never can get rid of that purple look.

‘So I thought, “Well, I’m going to kind of decorate these with some flowers or little butterflies or whatever.”‘

Butterflies have become a powerful symbol for the 11-time Grammy winner.

Explaining her attraction to the insect, she told W mag: ‘Butterflies don’t sting, they don’t bite, and they are so beautiful…

‘And I just kind of related to them with my own personality. I claimed them as my little symbol.’

She previously told People magazine about another tattoo, sharing she has ‘a little beehive’ tattooed on top of a keloid scar.

‘A little yellow-and-brown beehive with a tiny little bee on top of the hive,’ Parton said, ‘The mouth of it is that little sinkhole.’

Dolly’s tattoos have been the topic of gossip since the 90s.

Though celeb friends Roseanne Barr and Jennifer Saunders confirmed their existence to Craig Ferguson in 2011, Parton has gone to great lengths to keep her tattoos private.

Telling People how she deals with the wild rumors, she said: ‘”Oh yeah! I always laugh at [the gossip.]

‘One, it shows up about every three years in the tabloids, where I’m bedridden because my boobs are so heavy that I’m crippled for life on my back. I just laugh. Well, they are heavy, but they haven’t crippled me yet.’
