Chelsea ‘in the hunt for Real Madrid’s Casemiro as Thomas Tuchel wants yet ANOTHER midfielder to boost his squad… with the Brazilian out of favour under Carlo Ancelotti’

Chelsea have joined the cluster of clubs vying for the signature of Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro.

The Brazilian has fallen out of favour in at Los Blancos under Carlo Ancelotti and Blues boss Thomas Tuchel wants another midfielder as cover, according to El Nacional.

Tuchel’s first-choice midfield pairing is Jorginho and N’Golo Kante, but the French World Cup winner’s season has been marred by recurrent injuries.

The loan signing of Saul Niguez from Atletico Madrid has been a disaster, with the Spaniard making just two Premier League starts and being hooked at half-time on both occasions.

As such Tuchel is reportedly keen to bring in another player, and Casemiro fits the bill. But Chelsea would have to part with more than £50million to secure the 29-year-old’s services.

Casemiro has reportedly been aware of his precarious position since Ancelotti first joined Real, and even club president Florentino Perez has been concerned about his performances.

In fact, Real have only held onto Casemiro this long because they do not have a replacement for his position on the pitch, according to El Nacional.

Although said to feel at home in Spain, Casemiro may be open to a move to Stamford Bridge and his agent has reportedly met with the Chelsea hierarchy on several occasions.

However, it is likely Chelsea would face stiff competition to sign the highly-decorated Brazilian, who has won several trophies at Real Madrid including two LaLiga championships and four Champions League titles.
