A clever cockatoo has figured out how to get into a wheelie bin despite its lid being weighed down by a brick.

An online video showed the cheeky bird maneuvering a brick off an Australian council wheelie bin to get to the food inside.

The hungry bird landed on top of the bin only to find locals were trying to stop pests from getting into their rubbish.

Putting a brick on top of the wheelie bin lid is a common deterrent used to keep birds from rummaging through the rubbish and scattering litter.

However instead of moving onto a different bin the stubborn bird took on the challenge and began wiggling the brick off the bin.

Once the capable cockatoo got the bin lid open it proceeded to do exactly what the bin owner was trying to prevent and dropped rubbish onto the ground.

The bird eventually gets into the bin and proceeds to drop litter on the ground nearby

Cockatoos are a type of common parrot native to Australia.

Commenters were quick to applaud the bird’s clever thinking.

‘I love this. Clever little ba****d,’ one user wrote.

‘Notice him trying different spots and positions to get the best leverage, amazing,’ another wrote.
