Two siblings have gone viral after spending the night in a swinging hammock suspended a gut-wrenching 70ft in the air.

Sam Simons, 23, and his family were travelling through the picturesque south coast of New South Wales, Australia, for a summer holiday when they stumbled across the secretive location.

Sam and his younger sister Ariana Simons, 19, set up the hammocks.

Ariana was above a 10m drop and Sam 3m above a slanted rock, where they stayed to sleep for the night.

Sam said: ‘I’ve been dreaming of doing this for years, I just needed to come across the right shaped cliff.

‘We couldn’t miss the opportunity.’

He added they were right on the edge of the cliff, which was well over 20m tall.

‘If I’d have fallen out, I would’ve bounced off the rock then off the cliff,’ he said.

‘The cool part though is once you’re in and have zipped up the net, you physically can’t fall out.

‘It’s actually really safe, Ariana and I sleep in them wherever we go, they are the best.

‘Especially in Australia where you want to be off the ground away from snakes and spiders.

‘We’ve even camped in the snow with them.

‘Crawling in was definitely the sketchiest part, knowing that if I slipped off, I would be going off a 20m cliff.

‘But I guess that’s what made it so fun. Who doesn’t love a cheeky bit of adrenaline before going to bed?

‘Getting to watch the sunset over the valley, just sitting up there blowing in the wind with the birds was an absolutely unreal feeling.

‘It was the best sleep of my life.’
