Pioneer Woman Ree Drummond used to ‘scratch her head’ when told she ‘lacks professionalism’ but now she ‘gets it’ as she jokes with her family


Ree Drummond joked over the weekend about some of the criticism she receives for her cookery show The Pioneer Woman.

The 53-year-old shared an Instagram video from her show over the weekend, showing her family members playfully having a mock-brawl at the counter over who would get to try one of her dishes first.

Ree admitted she is sometimes slated for ‘the lack of professionalism and decorum displayed in the kitchen’ and joked that ‘I watch a clip like this and totally get it.’

In the clip she posted, Ree could be seen cooing over a ‘glorious’ casserole she had just finished making while her daughter Alex filmed her.

Alex’s husband Mauricio and sister Paige were standing by hungrily as Ree garnished the finished product and asked: ‘Okay, who wants the first plate?’

Mauricio and Paige both exclaimed: ‘Me!’ and rushed over behind the counter, where Ree stood carving up her casserole.

“No, you shouldn’t,’ said Ree with a smile, but they did anyway, leaving the Pioneer Woman quipping: ‘I feel like a third wheel.’

Ree wrote in the caption: ‘While most of the feedback I receive on our self-shot cooking show is positive, I do hear from the occasional viewer who takes issue with the lack of professionalism and decorum displayed in the kitchen.’ 

She added: ‘I used to read those messages and scratch my head, not really understanding what they meant…but then I watch a clip like this and totally get it.’

Alex hopped into the comments section of the Instagram post and wrote drily: ‘a classic Paige vs. Mauricio brawl.’
