Jessica Mauboy has revealed what makes her turn her chair as a coach on The Voice.
The star, 32, told the Sydney Morning Herald on Thursday that it’s a combination of vocal ability and storytelling.
‘If they’re giving me a high note that gives me goosebumps, that’s when I automatically turn,’ she told the publication.

‘If they’re giving me storytelling and I’m feeling it emotionally, that’s when I’ll turn,’ she added.
Jess went on to add that she likes performers who dance during their performance.
‘If they’re physically moving – I think they’re moving, I think they’re dancing – that’s giving me energy,’ she finished.

Jess will next appear as a coach on The Voice Generations.

Speaking to Jessica Rowe’s Big Talk Show podcast recently, the songstress said there’s been ‘multiple times’ she’s almost quit the music industry.

‘There’s been many, many down moments and moments where I’ve thought, ”Maybe music isn’t for me anymore?”’
‘Or, ”Maybe I’m done with this side of music.” And particularly being away from home so much and being away from people that know me the most,’ she continued.
Jess said that ‘being away from family’ is her biggest motivation to leave the music industry behind.
