Radio star Mel Greig reveals she ‘felt worthless’ after scammer ex-boyfriend vanished with her money

Radio star Mel Greig says she felt ‘stupid’ for lending an ex-fling $1000 after they had only known each other for a few days – before he ghosted her and ran off with the money

Mel Greig has revealed how she felt ‘stupid’ and ‘sad’ after being scammed out of money by a man she was seeing for a few days.

The mystery man, who the radio star dated for just a short time in 2017, made off with $1,000 she loaned him before blocking her number, and Mel claims he has done the same to over 100 women.

‘I felt worthless and my strength had gone. I’m such a strong, resilient person and I felt so weak,’ the 39-year-old told Nine Honey.

‘You feel guilty, you feel stupid. You feel ashamed that you let it happen. Others are judging you for that situation and saying to themselves, “I would never let myself do that or be in that situation”.

‘And you really can’t judge someone unless you’ve been in their shoes. You can have your opinion, but you don’t really know how good he actually is,’ she added.

In an earlier column for Yahoo, Mel revealed she was duped by her former lover after she said she ‘stupidly’ let him stay with her and loaned him $1,000.

The blonde radio star recalled that she had naively let the man move into her home temporarily after the first date, as he was struggling to find somewhere to stay.

Things quickly went awry, with Mel revealing: ‘The third day in, I get a phone call from him in tears saying his bank account had been hacked and he had no access to money because his account was now locked.’

‘If they open up to you asking for help, you are more inclined to trust their story,’ she told the publication.

‘And like most females, we care and want to fix people, which then leaves you open to be taken advantage of,’ she continued.

Mel loaned the man $1,000 and he never returned to her home or gave her the money back. He also blocked her from his social media accounts.
