Hungry dog gets his head stuck inside a tuna tin in the Philippines [Video]

Please CAN you rescue me? Moment hungry dog is freed after getting his head stuck inside a tuna tin

  • Kana, a dog from Bataan province in the Philippines, was raiding the rubbish
  • After getting his head stuck in the empty can, he started whining for his owner
  • A can opener is used to peel back the can’s lid, revealing a pitiful-looking face
  • Carefully, the can is pulled off Kana’s head and, unhurt, the pooch resumes play

This is the moment a dog got his head stuck in an empty can of tuna, leaving the distressed canine needing to be rescued by his bemused owners.

The footage, captured on February 12 in Balanga city, Bataan province, the Philippines, shows a woman holding the trapped dog, named Kana, while a man takes the top off the can with an opener.

After prying back the metal lid, the dog’s face is revealed for the first time, and he looks pitifully towards the camera.

According to the dog’s owner, the unattended pooch got his head lodged into the empty can after trying to lick out the remnants.

Owner Cholo Dy said: ‘We heard him crying so we went to check. Maybe he smelled it and wanted to taste what was inside.

‘Fortunately, we saw him right away.’

After some gentle pulling, the owners manage to wrest the fluffy pooch’s head from the can before holding him up to the camera.

Cholo Dy said: ‘We always gave him food but he still gets hungry sometimes.

‘We will have to put a cover on our trash can because he likes to search for food there when no one is looking.’

Kana suffered no injuries from his encounter with the empty tuna can, and reportedly went back to playing after his assisted escape.

The Filipino dog is not the only hungry dog to get into trouble with a can of food.

A husky in China was filmed last year with the tin lodged inside its jaws.

The husky’s owner had been attempting to prepare a meal for the dog, but the impatient canine snatched the can before it could be opened – and got it stuck between its front teeth.

Footage reveals how bemused firemen resorted to massaging the animal’s jaws in an attempt to dislodge the can.

After a few moments the husky seemed to get the idea, and loosened its own grip on the can, allowing it to use its front paw to push the can to the floor.

Video of the unusual incident was posted on Chinese social media on March 12.
