England star Jordan Pickford resists Everton relegation taunts while attending boxing fight

England star Jordan Pickford resists Everton relegation taunts from fans while attending Kell Brook’s boxing fight against Amir Khan in Manchester – just one week after being ‘centre of police probe after a mass brawl in Tyneside’

  • Jordan Pickford attended Kell Brook’s victory against Amir Khan in Manchester
  • The England goalkeeper had earlier played in Everton’s defeat to Southampton
  • Pickford ignored a fan asking: ‘Are Everton getting relegated?’ and then saying ‘Liverpool are winning the league’
  • It comes after the 27-year-old was reportedly at the centre of a police probe after a mass brawl at a pub in Tyneside

England’s No 1 goalkeeper Jordan Pickford ignored taunts about his club Everton and rivals Liverpool while attending Kell Brook’s fight against Amir Khan in Manchester on Saturday night.

The 27-year-old had earlier played in Everton’s 2-0 loss down in Southampton but clearly made a speedy journey up north to watch Brook’s knockout triumph against bitter rival Khan.

Yet, in a video posted on TikTok, Pickford resisted taunts when a fan asked ‘Are Everton getting relegated?’ by simply leaning in and ignoring him, and then walking away when he was met with ‘Liverpool are winning the league!’

The video was captioned ‘Pickford on strings’, but despite the fact he briefly engaged with the fan, the goalkeeper did not properly respond and simply walked away.

It comes just a week after a report in The Sun stated the England goalkeeper – who starred last summer at Euro 2020 – was at the centre of a police probe after a mass brawl broke out at a pub in South Tyneside on Sunday.

The report details that Pickford was mocked for his ‘little arms’ and with friends ‘furious’, a fracas broke out in East Boldon, with one man left with a broken nose and another with a smashed phone after he was filming the incident.

The police are investigating and seeking witnesses but there is no suggestion that the Everton goalkeeper assaulted anyone.

Police rushed to the scene at the time believed to be 9pm on Sunday but, by this point, Pickford and his group had left the scene at the Beggar’s Bridge pub in a minibus.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said: ‘We received a report of a disturbance at the Beggar’s Bridge pub.

‘It was reported that a fight broke out between two groups of males inside the premises. An investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.’

Everton declined to comment when approached by The Sun.

Pickford was recently teased by Newcastle fans, during a 3-1 defeat at St James’ Park on February 8.

One Magpies fan held up a toy Tyrannosaurus Rex in a direct dig at Pickford, who is from rivals Sunderland and used to play for the Black Cats.

Pickford is famous for his heroics at both the 2018 World Cup and Euro 2020, but he has had his moments to forget in an Everton shirt.

One such moment was conceding a last-minute goal to Liverpool when he failed to deal with the ball around his cross-bar, leading to more taunts about his height and arm length.
