‘Frillian White Knickers!’: Tyson Fury mocks Dillian Whyte and enjoys an imaginary face-off with him after claiming his rival ‘messed up his legacy’ by refusing to show up to the opening press conference for their world heavyweight title showdown

  • Dillian Whyte failed to show up to the press conference for his bout vs Tyson Fury
  • Whyte has been left incensed by his 20 per cent split of the fight purse
  • But Fury didn’t waste the opportunity to rip into his heavyweight foe on Tuesday
  • The Gypsy King claimed Whyte has ‘messed up his legacy’ by refusing to attend
  • He then enjoyed a hilarious imaginary face-off with his upcoming opponent

Tyson Fury took aim at Dillian Whyte for refusing to attend the opening press conference ahead of their world heavyweight title showdown in April – before enjoying an imaginary face-off with his British rival.

Whyte, who is currently preparing for the fight out in Portugal, turned down an offer to fly to London by private jet on Tuesday and officially unveil his clash with WBC champion Fury, having been left incensed with his 20 per cent cut of the fight purse.

The Brixton fighter will also not be receiving a portion of the pay-per-view sales for their domestic dust-up, meaning he is deciding not to help promote it in any way shape or form.

Fury was therefore left to front the press conference along with promoter Frank Warren, and he didn’t waste the opportunity to rip into Whyte.

When asked about his rival’s absence, the Gypsy King said: ‘I think it messes up his legacy a little bit as well.

‘In years to come they’ll see it was a really good fight, he didn’t have any involvement in any of the build-up, not in any of the photographs, there will be no old magazines to look at.

‘I think it’s a shame not just for him but for his kids and family to look back on in time as well.’

Fury also added: ‘If Dillian Whyte doesn’t want to be a part of this big event, that’s his problem.’

While he was disappointed not to see him turn up on Tuesday, Fury did admit Whyte is a ‘game competitor’ who will be determined to knock him out in April.

‘I’ve fought some tasty competitors over the years. I know Dillian Whyte, we go back a long way – to about 2012,’ he said.

‘He’s a tough guy, he’s a game competitor. He will bring what he can and he will try to chin me; that’s a fact.

‘He’s definitely up there with the top 10 fights I’ve had. I could say he’s No2 or 22, but if I demolition him in one round then he’ll never get any credit for it.’

Nevertheless, Fury is expecting to pass his next heavyweight test in style – and he even came up with a new nickname for his latest opponent.

‘If I’m daft enough to get hit off him and knocked out, then I don’t deserve to be world heavyweight champion,’ he insisted.

‘He should be here kissing my feet, washing my feet, because I’m giving him 32-times his biggest payday.

‘He’s not Dillian Whyte, he’s Frillian White Knickers.’

Fury then left the reporters in attendance in stitches by squaring up to Whyte’s image on the fight poster for an imaginary face-off with his absent foe.

He joked: ‘Shall we do the face-to-face? I’ll definitely win this staredown.’
