Channel Seven reporter Amber Laidler reveals what it’s been like to FINALLY take her newborn son Will home – after he spent the first six weeks of his life in hospital


Amber Laidler has finally been able to take her newborn son Will home after he spent the first six weeks of his life in hospital.

In an interview with 7NEWS on Wednesday, the Channel Seven reporter, 29, said she and her AFL star husband, Jeremy Laidler, simply ‘couldn’t wait any longer’.

Will was admitted to the hospital’s special care nursery after he arrived eight weeks premature in mid-January.

‘Six weeks, 125 return trips to hospital and more RAT tests, expressed milk bags, late night pumping sessions and tears than I care to count,’ Amber wrote on Instagram on Tuesday. 

‘It felt like eternity but somehow flew by so quickly at the same time. Welcome home Will, finally. #letthechaosbegin’.

She also included a series of photos of proud dad Jeremy, 32, cradling his newborn son at home.

Meanwhile, an excited Jeremy also posted about Will’s arrival on Tuesday, and simply wrote: ‘Our boy is HOME!!’ 

Amber announced Will’s birth on Instagram on January 19, sharing a photo of the tiny baby boy with a nasal cannula.   

‘Our darling boy Will Richie Laidler who simply couldn’t wait any longer and joined us eight weeks early yesterday afternoon,’ she wrote at the time.

‘He’ll now spend a few weeks in the special care nursery while we try to understand how it’s possible to love one tiny human so very, very much.’

Jeremy also shared a photo of their sleeping son hooked up to a series of wires shortly after his arrival.

‘The most incredible (and obviously impatient) little boy that brought so much joy [to] our lives already. Amber did such an amazing job and I could not be more proud of her!!’ the retired Australian rules footballer wrote.
