Latrell Mitchell gives a young Roosters footballer the memory of a lifetime with a heartwarming gesture – leaving his dad stunned: ‘It’s a beautiful story’
Latrell Mitchell stunned a young Sydney Roosters player by giving him a lift to training last week.
The South Sydney star was driving along Anzac Parade at Kensington when he spotted a youngster wearing a Roosters outfit at a bus stop.
Mitchell correctly assumed the player was on his way to training at Matraville in the Eastern Suburbs and told him to hop into his ute.

The player in question was Kahu Capper, a Waverley College student who plays five-eight for Harold Mathews Under 17 team.
‘Latrell saw him waiting for the bus, just like he used to when he was a youngster at the Roosters,’ his father, Wayne, told The Daily Telegraph.
‘He pulled over in his ute then reversed back to the bus stop […] My son couldn’t believe it.’
The Rabbitohs fullback started out in rugby league with the Roosters, before turning professional in 2016 and remaining at the club until 2019, when he won the second of two consecutive Grand Finals.

‘He said he remembered waiting at that same bus stop when he was starting out in the Roosters system,’ Capper’s father continued.
‘He was the same age and had the same dreams.
‘Latrell came from Taree, my son comes from New Zealand. Another young fella trying to make it in the big city. It’s a beautiful story about a great man.’
The heartwarming story marks the second time in just a couple of days Mitchell finds himself in the spotlight for all the right reasons.

On Friday night, as the Rabbitohs lost the Grand Final rematch 26-12 to Penrith, Mitchell punted the ball into the stands to clear it, but accidentally struck an elderly woman in the face.
Despite 36 seconds still remaining on the clock and his side on the wrong end of the scoreboard, he immediately rushed to the stands to check on the woman’s welfare.
When the fulltime siren finally sounded, he returned to the fan and presented her with his match-worn boots – much to her delight.
