Tammy Abraham hints at a return to the Premier League as he claims he is a ‘London boy’ that wants to ‘make noise’ in the English top-flight once again… but striker also insists he is focused on winning a trophy at Roma

  • Tammy Abraham completed his £34million move to Roma from Chelsea in 2021
  • The 24-year-old joined former Blues boss Jose Mourinho at the Stadio Olimpico
  • However, he has been linked with a move elsewhere after rediscovering his form
  • Abraham hinted that he could even return to the Premier League in the future

Former Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham has hinted at a possible return to the Premier League after revealing he would like to ‘make noise’ in the English top-flight once again.

Abraham joined Roma – who are managed by former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho – on a five-year deal worth £34million in August 2021 after struggling to cement his place in Thomas Tuchel’s starting XI.

However, the 24-year-old could return to the English top-flight in the future after claiming he is a ‘London boy’. Nevertheless, Abraham has insisted he is focused on winning a trophy at Roma first.

Talking to talkSPORT, Abraham said: ‘For me I’ve always been a player growing up, watching the Premier League and watching football.

‘When I heard about different teams and certain players I always thought: Wow I want that to be me one day.

‘I’m sitting in bed one day on Instagram that Tammy’s been linked with so and so and as a player it makes you feel good.

‘As a player it makes you feel like you’re doing something right. For me it’s a nice feeling to be linked. To see your name all over the newspapers etc.

‘But for me it’s just doing my business here. Focusing on what I am doing here so I can keep getting linked with all the clubs.’

Abraham, who joined Chelsea aged seven, netted 30 goals in 82 games for Chelsea at first-team level and was top scorer in his two full seasons in the academy.

However, he struggled to make the team after the £97.5m return of centre forward Romelu Lukaku to Stamford Bridge.

Therefore, the 24-year-old forward decided to leave the club to pursue regular first-team football.

He signed for Roma but Chelsea included a buy-back clause in the deal allowing them to re-sign Abraham for £68m from June.

Abraham hinted that a possible return to Chelsea could be on the cards. He said: ‘It’s all over the place at the moment. Who knows what the future holds.

‘Of course I grew up in England and I’m a London boy so maybe one day I will be back in the Premier League to make noise there.

‘But, for me right now, it’s about focusing in Rome. It’s about focusing on doing the best I can and hopefully I can win these guys a trophy, which they haven’t won in many years.’

Roma are reluctant to let Abraham leave and are expected to place a £100million price tag on the striker’s head if other club’s come knocking.

Manchester United are in the market for a centre forward this summer, as are Manchester City — although Pep Guardiola’s side are prioritising a move for Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland.

Clubs from rival European leagues are also said to be considering a move for Abraham.
