Tyson Fury is ‘too smart’ for Dillian Whyte, claims Joseph Parker as the Gypsy King’s training partner and close friend tips him to stop The Body Snatcher in six rounds ahead of showdown at Wembley Stadium

Joseph Parker has tipped his training partner Tyson Fury to overwhelm Dillian Whyte when the pair meet for their heavyweight showdown this month.

Fury and Whyte go head-to-head at Wembley Stadium on April 23, with the Gypsy King’s WBC world title belt on the line as the pair end their feud that has seen ‘The Body Snatcher’ give his rival the silent treatment in the build-up to the fight.

Parker – who is a close ally of Fury and is often seen training alongside him – has tipped him for a stoppage and feels he will KO Whyte in the six round, citing the world champion’s intelligence and power.

‘I feel [Fury] has too much for Whyte – size-wise, power-wise, strength,’ he told Frank Warren TV.

‘He can move, he can fight, and so I think he’s gonna get Whyte out of there in the first six rounds.

‘Dillian’s got a very strong counter left hook. I got caught with it once and it put me down, so [Fury] has to be wary of that.

‘But I think Tyson, overall, is too smart.’

Whyte and Parker fought in summer 2018 – with the former coming out on top in a unanimous decision over 12 rounds.

Parker had been floored by one of Whyte’s famous hooks early on in the contest and also dropping him in the ninth.

But Parker came back strongest towards the end – dropping him in the 12th round and forcing him to hold on until the final bell.

Parker has since been unbeaten since that defeat, recently knocking out Whyte’s old rival Derek Chisora on two occasions.

It comes amid rising tensions between Fury and Whyte’s camp – just two weeks from the fight taking place.

The main row has been over Whyte’s treatment by Fury’s team Queensbury Promotions. Whyte had already been outraged by receiving just 20 per cent of the prize pot – despite being in line to make a career-high sum of £6million, while Fury is set to take home £22m.

Since then, Whyte’s lawyers have raged about not being invited to the first official press conference – with Fury pictured facing off in front of an imaginary opponent and accusing his rival of ‘waving the white flag’.

Whyte’s team have also accused Fury’s camp of breaching their contracts by not offering him tickets for his friends and family or informing them how big the ring will be on fight night.

On the flip side, Fury’s promoter Frank Warren has hit back, saying Whyte and his team have breached their deal themselves.

‘The bottom of line of all of it is he [Whyte] signed a contract,’ he told SecondsOut.

‘That contract is full of what his obligations are – and by the way what our obligations are. We’ve fulfilled every one of our obligations.

‘All he keeps doing is going off centre, off course, coming up with other stuff that’s not in the contract.

‘All I want [from] Dillian Whyte is what is in the contract. Nothing more, nothing less. And up to now, he has not done that. He’s in breach. He’s not done that.’

He continued: ‘We’re paying him $7.5million and he’s got an upside of $4million. Of course I’m upset. What have we got to say then? We pay fighters to do nothing?

‘Where does he think the money is generated from? It’s generated from the promotion. It’s not like, “Oh here’s a purse bid, here’s your money, sod off and show up on the night.”

‘Did he do that for any fight that he had with Matchroom? Did he not show up for one single press conference announcing a show for Matchroom? No. So why’s he doing this?’
