Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois believes Barcelona’s 4-0 win over his team last month was a ‘fluke’.
Xavi’s side thrashed Real at the Bernabeu thanks to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s brace and goals from Ronald Araujo and Ferran Torres.
But Courtois believes Barcelona’s win was merely a ‘fluke’ and insists their recent results show the loss against their fierce rivals was just down to a ‘very bad night’.

Speaking to Spanish outlet El Capitan via Marca, the 29-year-old said: ‘It was a very bad night, but we recovered quickly, because you shouldn’t have to think too much about defeats.
‘I’m disappointed, of course, but I think it was clear that there is a before and after that defeat.
‘If you look at our results and our performance it was a fluke.’
Since the El Clasico defeat, Real have won two league games and beaten Chelsea to advance to the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Eleven days prior to the game against Barca, Carlo Ancelotti’s side produced a stunning comeback to beat Paris Saint-Germain 3-2 on aggregate thanks to a quick-fire hat-trick from Karim Benzema.
Courtois has hailed that result, saying: ‘It was a wonderful dream.
‘After the first leg, few fans believed we could qualify, but we did it.
‘It was one of those many nights when I feel lucky to play for Madrid.’
Courtois says the current Belgium team is ‘one of the best’ they’ve had in their history
The Belgian goalkeeper is also targeting World Cup glory in Qatar later this year and he says the current Belgium side is ‘one of the best’ they’ve ever had.
‘Our objective is to fight for that title. We know we have a good team. But we are talking about the World Cup, where the best of the best are going, and there are many teams with the same objective.’ he said.
‘Whatever happens will happen but, it’s true, Belgium has one of the best teams in its history.’
