The Block EP breaks silence renovated properties could ‘fetch $7 million each’

The Block executive producer breaks silence on rumours renovated properties could ‘fetch $7 million each’ this season: ‘They’d be set for life’

The Block executive producer Julian Cress has shot down rumours properties could go fetch as much as ‘$7 million’ at auction this year.

Speaking to the Herald Sun this week, Julian was quick to slow speculation of the enormous figures being thrown around in reports.

‘I do think that is quite an enthusiastic number and I am not aware of any 10-acre properties that are around here that have gotten anywhere near that,’ he said.

Julian was referring to Gisborne South, Victoria, where the next season of the show will be set on sizeable blocks of land.

The contestants will be tasked with building luxurious retreats in the picturesque Macedon Shire locale.

Julian said if the properties were to fetch such an enormous price, the couples would be doing very well indeed.

‘If the properties could set that price each then the couples who have been lucky enough to land themselves a role on this series will be set for life,’ he said.

In images published by Daily Mail Australia this week, host Scott Cam was seen welcoming the couples to regional Victoria site.

Speaking to The Herald Sun last month, Julian said this year’s season will be filled with all original cast members.

‘We have just done a Fans v Faves series so we have been really conscious not to go down that path,’ he said.

‘We have just given some former Blockheads another shot at it (in 2021) so it’s really time to make sure we offer it to newbies,’ he added.
