Richard Wilkins claims he was offered ‘a lot of zeros’ to do Celebrity Married at First Sight

He’s been a Channel Nine mainstay for a staggering 35 years.

And Richard Wilkins has revealed he was once asked to star in one of the network’s biggest and most successful shows, Married at First Sight.

The entertainment reporter, 67, said he was offered ‘a lot of zeros’ to star in a celebrity version of the reality TV show.

‘[Former Nine CEO] David Gyngell once said to me, I’ll give you – I won’t mention the amount of money but a lot of zeros – if you do Celebrity Married at First Sight,’ Wilkins said on Tuesday’s Fitzy & Wippa morning show. 

Celebrities Richard Reid, Yvie Jones, Ash Williams, Tully Smyth, Harry T and Paulini Curuenavuli have all previously been touted as potential stars of a celebrity spin-off of the experiment.

While Richard didn’t rule out an appearance on the show, he did tell hosts Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald and Michael ‘Wippa’ Wipfli he had no desire to appear in SAS, Survivor or Love Island. 

Richard is currently in a relationship with former air hostess Nicola Dale. 

He publicly confirmed their romance back in July 2020, when he shared a cosy photo of the pair to Instagram.

They had just returned from a romantic retreat in Byron Bay, New South Wales.

‘How good are a couple of days of fresh air, clean food and my first ever yoga class!!’ Richard captioned a series of photos, adding a pink love hearts emoji.

Richard and Nicola were caught kissing by the paparazzi in  June 2020. 

They were reportedly introduced by mutual friend Ben Fordham at a party earlier that year.
