Benji Marshall has revealed he was paid a generous amount of money to star on the new season of Celebrity Apprentice Australia.

The former NRL star, 37, revealed on The Monday Scrum with Emma Lawrence, Benji Marshall and Brent Read, he was ‘getting paid way more’ than the other celebrities.

‘During the first week, people started talking about how much they were getting paid and I said ‘yeah same’ but I was getting paid way more than that,’ he said.

‘Let’s just say, I was very happy,’ he admitted.

Benji went on to reveal how he negotiated his pay for the show.

‘I was on holiday at the Whitsunday’s and my manager called me and said we’ve been given this offer, and I said “no too low, that’s not enough, double it”,’ he explained.

‘He rang back straight away and said ‘done’ so I was on a plane the next day to start filming.’

It comes after Rebecca Zemek became the first contestant to be eliminated during Sunday night’s premiere of Celebrity Apprentice.

The Married At First Sight star was fired by Lord Alan Sugar after Turia Pitt accused her of being ‘manipulative’ during their first challenge.

Turia chose to summon Bec and The Real Housewives Of Melbourne star Gamble Breaux into the boardroom with her.

It wasn’t long before she accused Bec of being ‘manipulative’ and ‘patronising towards her during the golf challenge.

‘I felt Bec was manipulative, condescending and patronising towards me,’ Turia said.

‘I think when you’re in a team, you need to trust your teammates and because of Bec’s behaviour towards me, I don’t trust her.’

A stunned Bec responded: ‘I’m gobsmacked I’m in this room right now. I was happy to do any task whatsoever.’

‘There is people in the room that made less money than I did,’ she told Lord Sugar.

But he wasn’t impressed, responding: ‘I’m not talking about money. I’m talking about being a team player.’

‘Bec you’re fired,’ Lord Sugar said.
