Moment mother’s 50th descends into a drunken battleground in scenes likened to TV show ‘Shameless’

A 50th birthday bash descended into violent scenes – reminiscent of TV show ‘Shameless’ – when a drunken brawl broke out over a ‘stolen’ e-cigarette.

Lisa Keegan had been celebrating the milestone with friends and family in her garden until her boozy bash turned sour when a row sparked a huge fight.

Family friend Adam, 40, jokingly pinched the vape device from a teenager, but the situation quickly escalated after Lisa’s daughter’s boyfriend Tony stuck up for him.

Lisa tried to separate the fuming pair, but found herself at the centre of a scrap, with footage showing the two warring rivals flinging punches at each other.

They then fell to the ground, before grappling with each other on the grass, while Lisa and her other guests scrambled to pull the pair apart amidst the melee.

The fight was sparked by Adam, pictured in the white t-shirt, jokingly grabbing an e-cigarette from a teenager who was also t the party. Tony, right, ended up throwing punches at his mother-in-law who shouted at him to stop

Lisa's daughter Colleen, pictured, was pushed out of her chair in the melee with her mum shouting for her to help her break up the fight. Lancashire Police confirmed that they attended the incident and took one of the men home

Tony, 52, begins swinging wild punches towards Lisa rather than the man he had been fighting, causing her to scream ‘no you’re battering me.’

Colleen Jarvis, Lisa’s daughter, then falls backwards over a chair amidst the chaos as other guests filming the incident start laughing.

Furious Lisa eventually separates the pair to gain control, before finally warning Tony away by picking up a chair and wielding it towards him.

Lancashire Police have confirmed that they attended the alcohol-fuelled incident, with enquiries ongoing after they escorted one man home.

The video, which Colleen captioned ‘this is how birthday celebrations end’, has earned more than 13,000 shares and 300 comments with users finding the incident hilarious.

Lisa compared it to cult BBC drama Shameless but admitted it did make her 50th birthday one she’ll ‘never forget’.

Lisa, from Colne, Lancashire, said: ‘You’re only 50 once and this is certainly a birthday I’ll never forget! It was mayhem.

‘Adam was just winding people up, and he took a lad’s e-cig. Tony stuck up for him, but instead of punching Adam he was punching me.

‘They couldn’t pack a punch between them because everyone was so drunk. I was in the middle of them to break it up, but I should have just left them to it.

‘The video’s hilarious. It’s like something out of Shameless. I was like Meme. When I fell over backwards I just started laughing. Even the dog was barking to tell them off.

‘When I watched it back, I thought ‘oh my days’. I was embarrassed. We’ve been getting a lot of stick about it but some people are calling me a legend. A lot of my friends think it’s brilliant.’

The family say that some neighbours found the whole incident hilarious, with Lisa’s Staffordshire bull terrier Star, nine, barking to get involved in the mess.

Tony laughed off the incident, joking he’s now ‘too old to be getting into fights’, but says he’s thankful to the police for the ‘lift home’.

Tony said: ‘It’s funny to watch back. My girlfriend was falling over, Lisa was shouting and yelling, everyone’s falling all over the place.

Tony, pictured, has described the whole incident as 'funny' saying that Adam is a 'nice lad' and they both had too much to drink. His girlfriend Colleen fell off her chair in the midst of the argument, which the families dog also got involved in

Adam and Tony say they have made up since the incident, describing it as 'shadow boxing' and a 'right drunken mess'. Other members of the party can be heard laughing as the fight breaks out

‘Adam was being cocky, but we were all p****d up. It was more funny than anything else. He’s not my mate but I know him. He’s a nice lad.’

Despite police being called to the scene both Tony and Adam say they made up at the end of the night.

Adam, who claims he hadn’t been drinking for the past five years, admitted the fight was a ‘drunken mess’.

He said: ‘It was more like shadow boxing. We’d had one too many drinks, then we had a few cross words and that’s what happens.

‘I didn’t mean any ill intentions. And we had a laugh and a joke about it later on. It was more a drunken mess than anything else.

‘I’ve done worse, and that’s why I don’t drink. It’s the first time I’ve drank in five years. We sat in the heat, drinking gin and then all that went on. At least people got a laugh out of it.’

A Lancashire Police spokesman said: ‘We were called at 7pm on 28th May to a property on Slater Avenue in Colne to reports of two men fighting.

‘One man was transported home and enquiries are ongoing.’
