The Kit Kat Club in London’s West End tonight dramatically cancelled its cabaret night after a man climbed onto the top of the roof in an apparent bid to throw himself off it.

Emergency services raced to the scene, forcing the roads around the venue to close.

The Metropolitan Police sent a negotiator to the venue, in what is believed to be a bid to stop the man from jumping off the building.

A force spokesman said: ‘Police were called to Northumberland Avenue, WC2, at 14.45hrs on Tuesday, 1 August to reports of a concern for safety. Officers attended. A man has climbed up to the top of a building.

‘A police negotiator is on scene and a number of road closures have been put in place.’
