The View host Sunny Hostin SLAMS Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner for using their children as ‘PAWNS’ in their ‘ugly’ divorce battle – as Joy Behar warns the kids will be ‘scarred’ by their parents’ public feud

The View’s Sunny Hostin and Joy Behar offered a stark warning to Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas not to use their children as ‘pawns’ in their ‘ugly’ divorce battle, claiming the youngsters could be left ‘scarred’ from their parents public feud.

It’s been a turbulent few days for the estranged couple, with Jonas, 34, issuing a sensational rebuttal of his ex-wife’s claims that he withheld their children’s passports and refused to let them travel to see her in the UK.

His denial came after it was confirmed in court documents that Game of Thrones alum Turner, 27, is suing the Jonas Brothers singer in order to try and move their two daughters – three-year-old Willa and one-year-old D.J – back to her native UK.

Behar kicked off a no-holds barred discussion about the high-profile split before talk turned to whether Turner has been ‘mom shamed’ in the fall out.

‘It’s ugly. When you have kids and you’re getting a divorce, be very careful what you do,’ Joy warned. ‘Those kids will be scarred and remember this forever.’

‘It feels like they’re using them as pawns here,’ Sunny chipped in, before detailing Turner’s custody petition.

Jonas filed for divorce from Turner on September 6, with reports claiming the split was because of her ‘partying’ lifestyle – in addition to claims he allegedly caught her on their Ring security camera ‘doing or saying something’ that led to the filing.

Weighing in on the divorce papers, The View’s Alyssa Farah Griffin, 34, said that she felt Turner had been ‘mom shamed’.

‘As soon as it was announced there was kind of a slander campaign frankly against Sophie Turner, someone who is an incredibly accomplished actress working on Game of thrones since she was 18 [claiming she was] partying and doing this,’ she said.

‘This is a person who is a mom to young kids, but also a very successful person. It kind of waded into some of the mom shaming that may be slut shaming.’

She added: ‘This could get super dicey and could become an international custody battle.’

A representative for Jonas, told DailyMail.com in a statement that the singer was seeking ‘shared parenting’ with Turner and added: ‘The children were not abducted.’

‘This is an unfortunate legal disagreement about a marriage that is sadly ending,’ they continued.

‘When language like ‘abduction’ is used, it is misleading at best, and a serious abuse of the legal system at worst. The children were not abducted.

‘After being in Joe’s care for the past three months at the agreement of both parties, the children are currently with their mother.

‘Sophie is making this claim only to move the divorce proceedings to the UK and to remove the children from the U.S. permanently.’

Jonas’s representative also said the singer had ‘already disavowed any and all statements purportedly made on his behalf that were disparaging of Sophie’.

‘They were made without his approval and are not consistent with his views. His wish is that Sophie reconsider her harsh legal position and move forward in a more constructive and private manner,’ the statement said. ‘His only concern is the well-being of his children.’

Turner had claimed that she wasn’t aware that Jonas was filing for divorce claiming she found out ‘through the media’. Jonas’ representative has denied this.

‘After multiple conversations with Sophie, Joe initiated divorce proceedings in Florida, as Florida is the appropriate jurisdiction for the case. Sophie was aware that Joe was going to file for divorce,’ they said.

‘The Florida Court has already entered an order that restricts both parents from relocating the children. Sophie was served with this order on September 6, 2023, more than two weeks ago.’

His representative added that the former couple had a ‘cordial meeting this past Sunday in New York,’ where Turner had arrived to be with their children.

‘They have been with her since that meeting. Joe’s impression of the meeting was that they had reached an understanding that they would work together towards an amicable co-parenting setup,’ the statement read.
