Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers admits he is not ‘anywhere near ready’ to return to the field but New York’s signal caller is still not ruling playing again this year.

Rodgers, who turns 40 this weekend, had been targeting a possible return on Christmas Eve against the Washington Commanders, just three and a half months after he had surgery on a torn Achilles.

Rodgers took further steps in his recovery this week when he returned to practice on a limited basis after being cleared for ‘functional football activity.’

‘Anything is possible,’ Rodgers said on Thursday.  ‘It feels great to be on the practice field, but I’m not anywhere near ready to play.’

Along with how his Achillies continues to recover, Rodgers also reaffirmed that his return to the field will depend on if the Jets are still in playoff contention as the season winds down.
