Trevor Lawrence has revealed he’s aiming to play this Sunday vs. the Browns after the Jaguars quarterback suffered a scary looking ankle injury on Monday.
Lawrence had his ankle stepped on by teammate Walker Little in Jacksonville’s loss to the Bengals, with his leg twisting in gnarly fashion before he was forced off the field.
But just days after Jaguars fans feared the worst, Lawrence is apparently in contention to play as soon as this weekend.
‘I’m thankful it’s not a worse injury than what I thought on the field,’ Lawrence told reporters Wednesday.
‘If I can be out there [on Sunday] and be myself for the most part, I’m gonna be out there.’

Lawrence did not practice Wednesday, but also was not wearing a boot as he appeared at his press conference in sandals.
However, head coach Doug Pederson hinted that the team may be without Lawrence – at least for a short while – as he said his team has to ‘weather this storm, so to speak.’
After Lawrence’s injury, Jaguars fans fumed at the sight of him walking off the field instead of using a cart.
But Lawrence admitted that it was his own decision – and a ‘dumb’ one – to not use the cart.
‘Of course we have carts, and we have everything we need, and I was the one that didn’t choose to take one. So, put that on me,’ he said Wednesday.
‘Maybe that was dumb. Maybe I should’ve taken one. Whatever. But it’s nothing to do with us not having a cart available. I don’t think that would happen in the National Football League, especially here with the crew that we have.’
Whether it’s this week or a bit later, Jaguars fans will be thrilled that Lawrence’s injury is not season-ending.
Fans of the team, which fell to 8-4 on Monday, bombarded the quarterback’s wife with positive messages after the scare.
‘Really overwhelmed by people’s kindness and love,’ Marissa said in a comment attached to a video of direct messages.
‘Just wanted to share something positive and thank everyone truly for your prayers and support,’ Marissa continued. ‘Grateful to be surrounded by so many amazing people.’
