Norwich are set for formal talks with Frank Lampard as they step up their search for Daniel Farke’s successor this week.

The former Chelsea manager, 43, has emerged as an early contender to replace Farke, who was sacked on Saturday after Norwich’s 2-1 win at Brentford.

Norwich began holding discussions regarding Farke’s replacement on Sunday with initial enquiries made into Lampard’s interest.

Out of work since being sacked by Chelsea in January, Lampard is on a shortlist of candidates under consideration by Norwich, which also includes Dean Smith. The 50-year-old became an option after being axed by Aston Villa on Sunday, though he may prefer to take a break from the game.

Swansea boss Russell Martin – a former Canaries captain who has spoken of wanting to manage Norwich one day – has also been linked.

Norwich have lost eight of 11 Premier League games this season, a start which sparked doubts about Farke’s ability to keep them up, as reported by Sportsmail last week.

Despite beating Brentford, Norwich remain five points from safety.
