Romeo Beckham bags THREE assists in one game as 19-year-old pushes for promotion into dad David’s Inter Miami first team and his big break in MLS

  • Romeo Beckham recorded a hat-trick of assists for Inter Miami’s reserve team
  • Romeo, son of England legend David, assisted all three in his side’s 3-3 draw
  • The 19-year-old youngster plays as a right winger, just like his father used to
  • Romeo had spent time with Arsenal, along with his brothers Brooklyn and Cruz

Romeo Beckham lived up to his dad’s name with a hat-trick of assists for Inter Miami’s B team on Tuesday as he looks to launch his professional career in America.

The MLS outfit’s reserve side, Fort Lauderdale CF, drew 3-3 against Philadelphia Union II, with Beckham Jr – son of England and Manchester United legend David – grabbing credit for all three goals as they snatched a late point.

Romeo, who plays on the right wing just like his father, laid the ball on for Benjamin Cremaschi and Shanyder Borgelin to equalise after his side had gone 2-0 down at the DRV PNK Stadium.

After falling behind again, Beckham Jr then teed up Borgelin for his second to secure a late draw.

The post, to the club’s 32,400 followers on Instagram, has the caption: ‘Gol from @benjacremaschi to bring us within 1 of Philadelphia Union. @romeobeckham crosses it in for a beautiful assist. Vamos, #InterMiamiCFII’.

Romeo spent time with Arsenal’s academy for a year in 2014-15, along with brothers Brooklyn and Cruz, when he was 12, but all three were eventually released.

After announcing his decision to instead pursue tennis as a professional career, and training with Andy Murray, he then chose to return to chasing the football dream after a five-year absence from the sport.

Beckham Jr signed his first pro deal with the Florida side in September, joining Harvey Neville, the son of the club’s manager Phil Neville, who is a former team-mate of David’s.

But Phil insisted Romeo would not get an easy ride because of who his dad is.

He told the Sun: ‘I think the first thing that David said to me was, ‘You have got to be harder on him than anyone else’. He has got to work harder than anyone else to get into that team because there will be questions, there will be expectations on his shoulders.’
