He’s one of the most popular men on the planet right now.

But Harry Styles has spoken out about not feeling ‘cool’ enough for a partner, alluding to his relationship with Olivia Wilde. 

The pop star, 28, and the actress, 38, have been going out for more than a year after they met on the set of Don’t Worry Darling, a film she directed.

And Harry gave a rare insight into the early days on the relationship, during a new podcast interview.

Speaking on the Spout podcast, he was asked to explain his song Cinema, which describes the feeling of not being ‘cool’ enough for a partner.

He said: ‘I think it’s, like, when you like someone, that initial phase. Am I doing things right?

‘Before you get comfortable with each other and it’s kinda, like, all of that stuff happens at the start of something.’

When the host suggested that nobody was ‘too cool’ for the former One Direction member, Harry replied: ‘We are all human.’

The interview comes after Harry got candid about what it was like to ‘fall in love on a film set’, while on Sirius XM’s The Howard Stern Show.

The My Policeman star said: ‘I had a wonderful experience being directed by Olivia.

‘Acting is kind of very uncomfortable at times. I think you have to trust a lot. 

‘It requires a lot of trust if you want to kind of give it everything, and I think being able to trust your director is a gift, so that was very helpful.’

He added: ‘It meant for a really nice experience working on that movie.’ 

Olivia has two young children – Otis, eight, and Daisy, five – with her former fiancé, the Ted Lasso star Jason Sudeikis.

While their custody battle will soon get underway, Olivia’s relationship with Harry is ‘more serious than ever.’

A source told People she and the As It Was singer have been ‘finding ways to make things work’ despite both their hectic schedules, with Olivia bringing out the singer’s ‘romantic side’.

The insider said: ‘What might have seemed like a fling initially, is now a committed relationship. Olivia has very much brought out his romantic side.

 ‘He also has tremendous respect for her when it comes to work. He would love to work with her again. They both support each other’s careers.’
