The dates included numerous stops outside of China, including Japan, the Philippines, and Taiwan.

In the hopes of rescheduling in the future, TMZ reports that Avril’s team is currently ‘working with promoters on the new plans.’

The Head Above Water: World Tour kicks off in Zurich, Switzerland in March and, as of now, there is no word if the European tour dates will be impacted.

But the latest strain COVID-19, which originated in Wuhan, China, managed to evolve and transmit from animal-to-human.

Once the disease is transmitted to a human host, it is able to spread ‘rapidly among people,’ which has ‘global consequences,’ according to ABC News.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the illness has spread from Wuhan to a total of ’37 countries around the globe, including the United States’ without ‘a known source of exposure.’

Aside from Lavigne, punk group Green Day, as well as boy band BTS have opted out of their Asian tour dates due to the potential dangers of the coronavirus.

Lavigne has undergone a public battle with Lyme Disease since her diagnosis in 2014, which leads to a compromised immune system due to the disease’s chronic symptoms.

Whether the singer’s Lyme disease and fears surrounding the coronavirus go hand-in-hand remains unknown.

Lavigne released her sixth studio album Head Above Water in February of 2019, having not had a release since her self-titled album in 2013.

The singer collaborated with ex-husband Chad Kroeger, who produced numerous songs on the 12-track record.

The album’s title track and lead single Head Above Water hit adult radio in Fall of 2018.
