Prince Harry and Meghan Markle follow one Instagram account for the month of March

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have revealed the one Instagram account they’ll be following for the month of March.

Prince Harry, 35, and Meghan Markle, 38, posted to their Instagram account SussexRoyal to mark the first day of the month, and revealed they would be following the TanksGoodNews page, which shares ‘uplifting’ content.

They shared a montage of content from the account, such as people forming a human chain to save stranded dolphins from a canal, a 93-year-old woman achieving her dream of earning a degree, and a bus driver comforting a scared boy on his first day of school.

The post comes ahead of Prince Harry and Meghan’s departure from the royal family – with the couple officially stepping down as senior royals on March 31.

Last month they followed Global Positive News and in January they chose Good News Movement.

The journalist behind the account Good News Movement ,Michelle Figueroa, from Boston, told People magazine that she sent Meghan Markle, 38, and Prince Harry, 35, a direct message and said she but ‘hasn’t heard back’.

Michelle also revealed she was given ‘no heads up at all’ before her Instagram page was featured by the couple for January.

Michelle said she had no idea that Meghan and Harry had followed on her page and was, in fact, trying to have a digital detox while on holiday in Puerto Rico when the news hit.

When she powered her phone back up, she found she had an unusual amount of notifications, and found one message which congratulated her on ‘the prince’ who was following her.

Although she had no idea how Meghan and Prince Harry found her page, she counts celebrities including Kristen Bell, Jennifer Garner and Katie Couric among her followers.

Michelle revealed that after the royal couple followed her account, she decided to reach out to them, but is yet to hear back.

She said: ‘I just sent them a note, a direct message, in appreciation. But I haven’t heard back and I figured, you know, just let it be. They’re plenty busy.’

When the couple followed her account at the start of January, she shared her own Instagram post about the experience.

At the time, she wrote: ‘Extremely honored and humbled to learn that @SussexRoyal chose me for their monthly feature and that I am the only account they currently follow.’

In December urged their Instagram followers to reflect on the ‘lonely, hungry and homeless’ as they posted photos from charitable accounts inspired by the ‘Twelve Days of Christmas’.

The heartfelt message to their 9.9million followers contained the American phrase ‘festive holiday season’, which could suggest that the Duchess of Sussex wrote the post herself.

Homelessness charities Shelter, the Salvation Army and the Los Angeles Mission  were all included in the list.

In the past the couple have had themed lists of 15 accounts they followed depending on the given topics, which included mental health, LGBT pride and the environment.
