Ben Affleck is dashing in black suit as he leads stars at red carpet premiere of The Way Back in LA


Ben Affleck looked every bit the leading man Sunday.

The actor, 47, walked the red carpet for his new film The Way Back at Regal LA Live in Los Angeles.

He was clad in a dark maroon suit with a white button-up top with brown dress shoes, sporting a bit of stubble after heading to the screening after attending an NBA game earlier in the day.

He posed on the red carpet posed with stunning co-star Janina Gavanka, who looked amazing in a strapless white textured gown with a slim black belt and her dark locks parted and slicked back. 

The sports drama co-stars Gavankar, Michaela Watkins, Brandon Wilson, Charles Lott Jr., Melvin Gregg, and Will Ropp. 

Other notable names snapped at the event included Watkins, Ropp, Rachel Roy and Ava Dash, singer Jules Aurora and hip-hop artist Propaganda.  

In the motion picture from filmmaker Gavin O’Connor, Affleck plays a high school basketball coach as Jack Cunningham fighting alcoholism; it’s a case of art imitating life, as the A-list actor has undergone rehab for on multiple occasions for his alcohol addiction.

Speaking with the AP on Thursday, the actor was asked how his own personal experience in recovery – he’s admittedly attended Alcoholics Anonymous meetings in addition to the rehab stints – influenced his performance in the film, which has themes of recovery.

‘I don’t know all the answers,’ he said. ‘I’m only an expert in my own failings. But the more expert you become in your own failings, interestingly, the less likely you are to repeat them, I’ve found. 

‘That is how my life has been getting better.’

Affleck said that things have improved with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner, 47, and their kids, daughters Violet, 14, and Seraphina, 11, and son Samuel, seven, amid his recovery efforts.

‘I have a better relationship with my kids today than I did three years ago,’ he said. ‘I have a better relationship with my ex-wife, I think, than I did three years ago. I think I’m a better actor. I think I’m a more interesting person because most of the growth that I’ve had has come from pain.’ 

The Way Back opens in theaters March 6.
