Eric Dier sensationally jumped into the crowd to confront a Tottenham supporter after the club were knocked out of the FA Cup. 

Jose Mourinho’s side were beaten at home on penalties to Norwich City and tensions spilled over at the end of the game as the England international had to be held back as he argued and fought with a supporter. 

The altercation, which occurred in the lower west stand where players’ families sit, saw the 26-year-old angrily confront one fan he had taken issue with and he had to be restrained by stadium security.

Social media saw a photo emerge of Dier climbing over rows of empty seats to get to the fan

The incident quickly gained attention on social media as fans were left in disbelief to see the midfielder walk off the pitch and climb over the advertising boards and into the stand. 

In one video, Dier can he heard telling the fan: ‘He’s my brother!’ 

Mourinho said after the defeat that Dier had told him that he was badly insulted by the supporter and that led him to jumping into the crowd.  

‘I don’t think that belongs to the game,’ Mourinho added.

‘The game was a fantastic representation of the FA Cup, but I cannot run away from the question.

‘I think Eric Dier did what we as professionals cannot do but when someone insults you and your family is involved, especially your young brother.’

Mourinho went on to add that he would not agree if Tottenham chose to punish Dier over his conduct at the end of the game.
