Racing enthusiast Harry Redknapp admitted to being terrified as he struggled to mount a horse for the first time while appearing on his ITV show tonight.

The former midfielder and West Ham manager, 72, was joined by his I’m A Celeb friends Nick Knowles and Rita Simons in Harry Redknapp’s Sandbanks Summer, which aired at 8pm, as he tried his hand at polo.

But amusingly, climbing onto his horse proved difficult for the I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here 2018 winner, who soon admitted defeat and left the competing to his two pals.

Harry, who has long been a fan of horse racing, is often spotted at racecourses including Royal Ascot or Cheltenham and owns 10 race horses.

When confronted with his horse, a red-faced Harry admitted: ‘I don’t know if I can get my left foot up there at my age, I’m f****** 72. You know what I mean? It ain’t easy.’

Narrating his amusing struggle, Harry, who owns ten racing horses, added: ‘Despite my love of horses, I’ve never actually ridden one, but how hard can it be?’

Asked if he was ‘happy’ once firmly settled on top of the horse, the former football manager replied: ‘I’m f****** scared. I’m going to fall of this f****** horse.

‘I’ve never sat on a horse in my life,’ he explained to fans gathering to see his humorous antics. ‘I’ve lost a fortune betting horses, but I’ve never ridden one.’

As he was trying to mount the animal, he confessed: ‘This definitely wasn’t one of my better ideas. See? Getting my leg over is a problem these days.’

But after he managed to finally get on top of the horse, he joined presenter Nick Knowles and actress Rita Simons for a ride on the beach.

And while the duo were quick to congratulate Harry on his ride on the beach, he confessed: ‘It was scary.’

Seeing as his friends had slightly better riding skills, Harry left Nick and Rita to fight it out in a game of polo penalty shoot-out.

Rita proved victorious after beating Nick 2-1, meaning the presenter and musician was forced to shovel some of the horses’ mess.

Harry revealed that he secretly owns 10 horses in September 2019 while appearing on Chris Evans’ Virgin Radio Breakfast Show.

The ex-Tottenham Hotspur manager registered Three Kings Racing – set up near his home in Dorset – with Companies House in 2016.
