The Duchess of Cambridge has wowed with her flattering and trendy tour wardrobe on the first two days of her official tour of the Republic of Ireland.
And now stylists have revealed how Kate Middleton’s, 38, tour wardrobe is not only impeccably stylish and practical, but as a way of showing her dedication to her royal duties by dressing ‘literally’.
Literal dressing involves turning up at an event and taking the theme of the occasion very literally, with Kate nailing the trend by selecting two green ensembles yesterday, and opting for shamrock earrings during a royal visit today.
Speaking to FEMAIL, celebrity stylist Lucas Armitage revealed how Kate often opts to ‘go literal’ with her style choices as a way of showing that she ‘takes her duties seriously’.

He explained: ‘Kate seems to do it in most of the places she visits, so I think it’s what she likes to do to show that she takes her duties seriously.’
Meanwhile stylist Susie Hasler, who runs Styled by Susie, also said Kate’s literally dressing helps the royal to convey messages during a visit.
She said: ‘Kate is using a lovely styling trick – using her clothes and accessories to convey a message that says “we’re united” and people are very receptive towards that and will welcome her in. By doing this, clever Kate also manages to enhance her likeability factor.’
Susie pointed to Kate’s choice to wear Shamrock earrings earlier today, revealing: ‘Her pretty Shamrock earrings are incredibly significant – the three leaves symbolise faith, hope and love.

She explained: ‘It is a really obvious signal for a senior royal to give – she’s not being secretive about it.
‘The messages are very clear from Kate’s very literal styling. Her choices are thoughtful and respectful.
‘And this is one of the many reasons why the Duchess is going to make an excellent future queen.’
Meanwhile Lucas explained that Kate nailed the art art of ‘literal’ dressing by combining obvious style nods with her usual trendy and chic style.

He said Kate had cleverly incorporated her love of pretty midi-dresses and bold prints with ways to honour the Emerald Isle.
He said: ‘Take her Alessandra Rich dress which she paired under a Catherine Walker coat all perfectly accessoried tone on tone with co-ordinating green court shoes and clutch.’
‘Her dressy shimmering midi dress, now a staple for her, giving a nod the Ireland with its bold choice of emerald hue.
‘Lastly her shamrock silver earrings supplying an exquisite detail with a more literal reference to Ireland.’
Susie said that while the Duchess’ choice of Shamrocks may have seemed like ‘an obvious choice’, they helped to convey a message of unity with the three leaves symbolising faith, hope and love
He said: ‘Kate has a long standing reputation for impeccable style and also seamlessly giving style nods to specific places on her frequent travels.
‘I totally take my hat of to her because it’s not always an easy thing to slot into your own wardrobe whilst retaining your own sense of style.’
As the Duchess landed at Dublin International Airport yesterday, she donned a ensemble of different shades of green.
She was dressed in a stylish emerald green coat by Catherine Walker and a patterned lighter green dress by Alessandra Rich, with matching green clutch bag.

And last night, the royal stepped out for an evening reception at the Guinness Storehouse in a simmering emerald £1,595 dress by trendy brand The Vampires’s Wife.
The royal opted for shades of the colour by pairing the look with chic green Manolo Blahnik heels for the occasion.
And earlier today, while Kate wore a soft cream Reiss coat with a smart black polkadot blouse from Equipment, she made sure to give a subtle nod to her hosts.
The mother-of-three selected a pair of pretty shamrock charm earrings by Daniella Draper with the outfit.

It’s not the first time the royal has been hailed for nailing the art of literal dressing.
The Duchess often selects ‘nautical’ style outfits for maritime visits, such as arriving at a sailing regatta for charitable causes in August last year.
And she regularly chooses floral prints while visiting Chelsea Flower Show, opting for a mid-length Erdem gown with a bold purple and blue pattern.
