The Duchess of Cambridge made a dazzling entrance to kick off her three-day tour to Ireland yesterday, wearing a pair of daisy-shaped diamond earrings worth £17,300.

Kate Middleton, 38, wore the Asprey stud earrings, which appeared to be a new addition to her jewellery collection, to her first official visit to the Republic of Ireland on Tuesday.

The royal teamed them with a £1,567 designer dress by Alessandra Rich and a chic black velvet headband.

However the mother-of-three soon proved she could work both designer and budget, swapping the diamond studs for £6 H&M gold drop earrings as she attended the evening’s reception at the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin.

The royal paired the frock with a pair of £525 Manolo Blahnik heels, a £245 Wilbur and Gussie Charlie Gold Glitter Classic Clutch to match her earrings.

Kate famously enjoys mixing designer pieces with high street steals, often looking to H&M and Zara for bargain deals.
