In the tweet, the Duchess was pictured alongside an illustration of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Sir Quentin Blake in the book written by Roald Dahl.

Felicity, who produced the 1996 film Matilda and the 2005 film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, both written by her late husband, appeared to get stuck into the literary activities.

She founded the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre tucked away in Great Missenden in Buckinghamshire, where the author lived until his death in 1990.

The pair were also joined by mystery and suspense author Anthony Horowitz who enthusiastically presented a book to the pupils.

And the primary school has its own literary history as it stands on the site of the Beatrix Potter’s house which was destroyed during the Blitz.

In 1988 a blue plaque was erected on the side of the school to commemorate the writer of tales including Peter Rabbit and Jemima Puddle-Duck.

World Book Day is a registered charity to celebrate authors, illustrators and books and is the biggest celebration of its kind.
