Coronavirus is a respiratory illness accompanied by fever, coughing, sore throat, shortness of breath and fatigue. It can produce pneumonia.

The spread of the disease, which began in Wuhan, China, has seen nearly 97,000 cases worldwide and over 3,300 fatalities.

The total number of Australians diagnosed with the virus is now 63, including two deaths.

New South Wales Health Minister Brad Hazzard said that the public can go about life as normal but should exercise caution.

Mr Hazzard suggested it’s time to ‘cease’ shaking hands and instead pat each other on the back as a greeting, and always wash hands after being in a public place.
