Married At First Sight’s Josh Pihlak accuses Cathy Evans of being fame hungry

The break-up’s getting nasty! Married At First Sight’s Josh Pihlak accuses Cathy Evans of being fame hungry… and says she acted cold towards him off camera

The future isn’t looking promising for Married At First Sight’s one-time golden couple, Josh Pihlak and Cathy Evans.

Following weeks of tension between the pair, Josh, 28, has sensationally accused his YouTube star ‘wife’, 26, of being fame hungry.

The truck driver told TV Week that Cathy only applied for the show to boost her profile, adding that she tried to convince him to stay in the experiment so they’d get more airtime.

He claimed: ‘Behind the scenes, she was like, “What do I need to do to get you to stay to the end?” And I’m like, “Cathy, it’s not about staying to the end.”‘

Josh also alleged that Cathy had been ‘cold’ towards him when the cameras weren’t rolling.

‘It’s all good and well to act like the happy couple on camera, but it should be exactly the same off camera too,’ he said.

It comes after a source revealed that the couple ‘pretty much lived separate lives’ during production last year.

The insider said: ‘They had a great start in the experiment, but after a week or so the spark fizzled out and then they were just going through the motions.

‘When they weren’t filming, Cathy would go to the gym at Plus Fitness during the day and Josh would just be strolling around on his own and go to McDonald’s.’

At Sunday night’s commitment ceremony, Cathy’s romance with Josh started to fall apart when he suggested they might be better off friends.

‘I’m worried that we’re going to be just friends next week, and that’s all it is going to be. I don’t want to be negative, but there’s a difference between what you want and what you feel. I have doubts,’ said Josh, leaving Cathy blindsided.

She responded: ‘I actually walked into this commitment ceremony quite confident. I’ve tried not to think about too much of the future because it is quite overwhelming.

‘But then I feel pressured to feel a romantic feeling in quite a short amount of time. You’ve given me an ultimatum by next week, and now I’m like, “Oh s**t.”‘
