They were once one of the strongest couples on Married At First Sight.

But it seems there’s trouble in paradise for Josh Pihlak and Cathy Evans, as new details emerge about what happened after Sunday’s commitment ceremony.

Josh, 28, told TV Week that Cathy ‘took off’ and ‘didn’t come home for the entire night’ because she was angry about what he’d told the relationship experts.

Josh claimed that neither he nor the producers had any idea where Cathy was.

‘When it gets to 2am and you’re not home, where are you? You could be dead in the gutter,’ said the truck driver.

When Cathy finally returned home, Josh angrily accused her of ‘acting like a b**ch’ because she was giving him the cold shoulder.

Their argument will be addressed on Monday night’s episode.

Cracks began showing in Cathy and Josh’s relationship earlier in the season when the logistics investigator accused her ‘husband’ of flirting with Hayley Vernon.

Things got worse when Josh’s mother, Mandy, issued Cathy a warning about giving her son the silent treatment.

‘Don’t ever ignore my son again,’ she told Cathy during a tense showdown.

At Sunday night’s commitment ceremony, Cathy’s romance with Josh hit another roadblock when he suggested they might be better off friends

‘I’m worried that we’re going to be just friends next week, and that’s all it is going to be. I don’t want to be negative, but there’s a difference between what you want and what you feel. I have doubts,’ said Josh, leaving Cathy blindsided.

She responded: ‘I actually walked into this commitment ceremony quite confident. I’ve tried not to think about too much of the future because it is quite overwhelming.

‘But then I feel pressured to feel a romantic feeling in quite a short amount of time. You’ve given me an ultimatum by next week, and now I’m like, “Oh s**t.”‘

Married At First Sight continues Monday at 7.30pm on Channel Nine
