A drunk Chinese man has been detained after stripping down to his underwear in a subway station and biting two anti-coronavirus officers because he did not want to have his temperature taken.

The intoxicated passenger, known by his surname Wang, shouted ‘I’ll strip naked for your checks’ after he was stopped by the station’s staff members for a temperature test last Wednesday evening.

‘Look, aren’t I pretty?’ said the barely-dressed Mr Wang to the staff in the metro station of Nanjing, Jiangsu Province of eastern China, according to local press.

CCTV footage shows the half-naked man pushing away the officers who are trying to put clothes back on Mr Wang.

The wobbly passenger even bit two anti-coronavirus workers as he was being tackled to the ground, according to Jiangsu News.

Mr Wang has been detained by local police for disrupting public services.

The police told the press that Mr Wang went to a friend’s dinner party before he arrived at the subway station. He was ‘already feeling dizzy’ as he left his friend’s house.

Subway stations around China have set up checkpoints to take passengers’ temperatures as a precaution against the novel coronavirus.

China has recently seen a sharp drop in its new cases of the deadly disease as Wuhan closes its last makeshift hospital built during the outbreak today.

The killer virus, has infected over 116,000 people worldwide, including at least 4,117 deaths. 

Italy has been the most-affected country in the Europe. As of Tuesday morning, 463 have died and there are 9,172 of it.

Fears over the rapidly growing number of coronavirus cases in the US has led to questions over whether America will be forced to go into lockdown like parts of Italy and China, the countries which have been so far the worst-hit by the epidemic. 

The UK is following the same trajectory, one scientist said, and could end up in a similar situation a few weeks down the line.
