Zara Tindall looked in typically high spirits as she arrived for the first day of the Cheltenham Festival today. 

The Queen’s granddaughter, 38, posed for photos with close friend Dolly Maude as she made her way inside Cheltenham Racecourse for the start of the four-day meet. 

Her husband Mike Tindall, 41, was also in attendance and cut a dapper figure in a tweed three-piece suit.

However it appeared to be a girls’ day out for Zara and Maude, who was bridesmaid at the royal’s 2011 wedding, and their pair looked to be enjoying themselves as they joked around in front of the cameras. 

Zara struck the right balance between stylish and practical in a navy coat by Guinea and a matching feathered fascinator by Juliette Botterill Millinery.

Underneath the equestrian wore a dress by Rebecca Taylor from Trilogy, although she kept her coat buttoned up to keep out the cold.

The mother-of-two finished the outfit with trusty black boots by LK Bennett and a classic saddle bag by Aspinal. She added the smallest touch of sparkle to the look with a pair of hoop earrings by Calleija.   

Meanwhile Dolly brought a splash of colour to proceedings in a seafoam green tweed jacket with velvet detailing on the pockets and collar. 

Proving she’s not afraid to take a style risk, Dolly eschewed a matching hat in favour of one in a fresh shade of pink. Dolly finished the look with pretty pink heels.

Elsewhere Zara’s brother Peter Phillips arrived with his estranged wife Autumn. 

The couple, who announced their separation last month, proved they remain on good terms despite their split as they strode side-by-side into Cheltenham Racecourse.

It is the first time Canadian-born Autumn, 41, has been seen in public since they announced their split in a public statement last month.
