Kim Kardashian shows what she calls the best way to greet people now that handshakes are out

She’s been extra vigilant amid public fears about the spread of the coronavirus.

Kim Kardashian shared some welcome disease-prevention news with her 162 million Instagram followers on Wednesday as she shared a video of a doctor teaching her the best way to greet someone without getting them sick.

The 39-year-old Keeping Up With The Kardashians star also went to extremes to sanitize everything her sister Khloé Kardashian touched after she had a coughing fit.

Safety first: Kim Kardashian, 39, shared what she called the best way to greet people without shaking hands to her 162 million Instagram followers on Wednesday while at her sister Khloé Kardashian’s house; shown March 1 in Paris

Kim appeared to be visiting Khloé’s house, but she ended up getting a primer on the best way to politely greet people without increasing risks of disease transmission.

The sisters had a friend and a doctor visiting, who showed off the best technique after washing their hands first.

Kim initially was going to show off the new greeting, but her friends did it for her instead. They faced each other and tapped the side of the shoes together diagonally like a handshake, first one foot then the other.

‘I don’t have time for two! So I’ll just do one,’ said Kim, before doing her own foot tap.

In recent days, multiple people, including US lawmakers, have begun using elbow bumps as a greeting instead of handshakes in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus and COVID-19, the respiratory disease it can cause.

But Kim seemed to have the most up to date recommendations, which don’t favor elbow bumps.

‘So you should not do elbows, because you cough into your elbow,’ she explained. ‘So no more elbows!

‘Or just do a little bow,’ she added as the men performed a namaste greeting, a small bow while holding your hands pressed together.

Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the World Health Organization’s Director-General, said last week on Twitter that close greetings, including the elbow bump, should be phased out.

‘When greeting people, best to avoid elbow bumps because they put you within 1 meter of the other person. I like to put my hand on my heart when I greet people these days,’ he wrote.

It’s not clear if Kim’s foot tap greeting would keep people separated by the recommended 1 meter (3ft) distance, though it at least prevents direct contact between possible contaminated body parts.

Kim also had some serious concerns about a gift Khloé got for her oldest daughter North West, six.

Her sister Khloé had apparently coughed on it — ‘Not in her elbow even!’ — so she felt the need to disinfect the box.

‘So this is the new jam of what I’m doing ever time someone hands me something,’ she said, grabbing a tube of Clorox wipes.

‘I’ll wipe it down. I saw her cough, and I’m not down for that’ she added.

Kim wiped down every side of the cardboard box until she was satisfied.

‘Now I will give this to my daughter as a gift,’ she said.

Kim later revealed to Allure that North made up for the forbidden beauty items by getting into skincare products.’
