Carrie Bickmore is the latest star to join panic buying frenzy amid coronavirus


Carrie Bickmore is the latest star to fret over the toilet paper shortage, as anxious shoppers around the country fear the spread of coronavirus.

The Project host, 39, shared a post to Instagram on Friday, where she revealed to her fans that she’s ‘going to have to get creative in the bathroom’.   

While many of her followers agreed, some described the panic buying frenzy as ‘ridiculous’. 

‘Going to have to get creative in the bathroom!’ Carrie Bickmore, 39, revealed in an Instagram post on Friday that she’s starting to panic over the lack of toilet paper and other essential items, amid the coronavirus panic buying frenzy 

‘As a result of not panic buying I am now really panic buying,’ Carrie wrote, alongside laughing face and face palm emojis.  

‘Kids we are going to have to get creative in the bathroom and kitchen over the next few weeks,’ she added. 

Carrie’s post attracted numerous comments with some admitting that they’re ‘screwed’ and are in the same predicament.

Others branded the panic buying frenzy as absurd, with one writing: ‘This is getting ridiculous!’ 

Meanwhile last week, Hamish Blake joined the many stars who revealed their shock at the lack of everyday items at supermarkets across the country. 

The 38-year-old joked in an Instagram post that he’s been forced to wear jumbo nappies in the wake of the toilet paper shortage.

‘Really great, uncomfortable, super expensive, bad value hack for if you can’t get toilet paper at the moment,’ Hamish wrote in the post’s caption.  

Jackie ‘O’ Henderson revealed on Instagram that she was getting anxious as her neighbours continue to stockpile essential items.

‘I’m starting to panic, this is all I have left,’ the 45-year-old radio host captioned a photo of two and a half rolls of toilet paper.

She included the hashtag ‘screw you doomsday preppers,’ before adding: ‘[The] irony is, when I panic I need to poo.’

Anxious shoppers in Australia and abroad have been stripping shelves bare of toilet paper, hand towels, pasta and toothpaste, amid fears over the spread of coronavirus.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) is a respiratory illness accompanied by fever, coughing, sore throat, shortness of breath and fatigue. It can produce pneumonia.

The spread of the disease, which began in Wuhan, China, has seen over 130,000 cases worldwide and over 4,000 fatalities.

The total number of Australians diagnosed with the virus is now 194, including three deaths.
