Bindi Irwin and Chandler Powell’s wedding could be CANCELLED amid COVID-19 fears – as couples rush to reschedule their special days

Bindi Irwin and Chandler Powell are set to marry at Australia Zoo later this year.

But the conservationists may be forced to cancel their plans after non-essential indoor gatherings of more than 100 people were banned to prevent the spread of deadly COVID-19.

Many Australian couples are postponing their weddings as the number of infected people in the country climbs to 456, with five deaths as of Wednesday.

The Irwin family has been building up the hype for Bindi and Chandler’s marriage recently, which suggests it may be be held soon.

Only last week, Bindi revealed she’d already chosen flowers for the occasion, posting a photo to Instagram of herself, Chandler and her younger brother Robert, 16, holding bouquets.

Meanwhile, Robert told Access Hollywood he was feeling nervous about walking his older sister down the aisle in place of his father Steve, who died in 2006.

While Bindi, 21, and Chandler, 23, have not announced the exact date of their wedding, they have said it will be later this year.  

But bans on some social gatherings could last 18 months – well into next year, according to Professor Neil Ferguson from the Imperial College COVID-19 Response Team.   

Earlier this month, six people infected with COVID-19 attended a wedding in NSW and could have spread the disease to others as a result.

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Scott Morrison banned non-essential indoor gatherings of more than 100 people to stop the spread of coronavirus. 

That comes on top of the existing ban on non-essential outdoor gatherings of more than 500 people. 

Many Australian couples have already cancelled their weddings amid fears that they or their guests could be infected while celebrating their special day.
