Christian Wilkins tests negative for coronavirus after his father Richard’s diagnosis – as it’s revealed Dancing with the Stars WILL go ahead this Sunday without a studio audience

Christian Wilkins has tested negative for COVID-19.

The 24-year-old socialite went into self-quarantine after his father Richard’s diagnosis on Sunday, but he has not contracted the deadly virus.

Christian shared the news via Instagram on Thursday, and also announced that  Dancing with the Stars will be going ahead this weekend.

The entertainment reporter briefly met Rita Wilson backstage at the Sydney Opera House on March 7.

Rita and husband Tom Hanks tested positive for coronavirus last Thursday. As soon as the couple announced their diagnosis, Richard went into self-isolation.  

Socialite Christian was clearly thrilled to be given the all clear and shared on Instagram a picture of himself performing and wearing an elaborate costume on Dancing With the Stars.

‘That NEGATIVE COVOID-19 (sic) test feeling!’ Christian’s caption read. 

Referring to his dance partner, he added in part of his post: ‘Lily Cornish and I will see you Sunday night on Dancing on 10. Pls, pls, pls don’t forget to vote, need it more than ever (sic).’

His father Richard tested positive on Sunday – despite not getting any symptoms – and has been in self-isolation at his Sydney home. 

On Monday this week, Richard fought back tears when he spoke about his shock diagnosis on the Today show from his home.

He told hosts Karl Stefanovic and Allison Langdon that he felt ‘guilty and embarrassed’ by the fact he may have passed the deadly virus on to others.   

Richard, who was speaking via FaceTime, said he was feeling ‘surprisingly very well’ and hadn’t yet experienced any symptoms.

‘I’m surprisingly very well. Look, you could have knocked me over with a feather when I [found out]. It took me a couple of minutes to reel from the news,’ he said.

‘I don’t have a sore throat, I don’t have a runny nose and I don’t have a headache. Maybe I’m going to get sick tomorrow? I’m almost waiting for something to happen. If I can say anything to anybody, it’s that if this is what it’s like, so far so good.’ 

As of Thursday morning, there are 568 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Australia, and six deaths.
