Jesse Tyler Ferguson of Modern Family gets some bare necessities at the grocery store as the Safer At Home order goes into full effect in LA

His iconic television show was able to finish production before everything was halted.

And Jesse Tyler Ferguson of Modern Family prepared to hunker down at home, seen grabbing what he needed from the grocery store in Los Angeles, California on Friday, as the county joined the rest of the state in a Safer At Home directive to aid in the social distancing necessary in stemming the spread of the novel coronavirus.

The red-headed actor, 44, looked somber and pensive as he made his grocery run, using his own canvas shopping bags.

Jesse wore a thick striped sweater to keep warm, over a hunter green polo.

He sported grey sweats and navy blue sneakers, and he sported a New York Yankees baseball cap on his head.

The Montana-born actor was seen waiting in line in the store along with other shoppers as everyone stocked up for the coming month of government-recommended self-isolation at home.

On Thursday, Los Angeles mayor Eric Garcetti issued the Safer At Home order, which is a public health directive requiring all nonessential businesses to close and prohibits gatherings of more than 10 people in enclosed spaces.

The fact that many employees of these essential businesses, including grocery stores, must continue working, was not lost on Ferguson.

Last Wednesday, the theater actor posted a heartfelt tweet in which he sent ‘a huge ‘virtual hug’ to those who are still working right now, essential jobs which include grocery clerks, postal carriers, health care professionals, pharmacists and more.

Jesse’s 11-season run on ABC’s Modern Family comes to a close on April 8th, after the cast and crew wrapped the series last month.

While Modern Family was luckily able to finish production before the pandemic took hold, many other shows have been forced on hiatus before finishing their season arcs, with no guarantee of when they’ll be able to resume production.

Ferguson is set to follow up his beloved television series with a new play in New York City – a revival of the baseball and queer-themed play Take Me Out, with previews currently set to begin on April 14th.
