Broadway star Aaron Tveit reveals that he has tested positive for COVID-19.

The 36-year-old actor of stage and screen took to his Instagram on Monday morning to share a snap of his beloved dog Miles with a lengthy caption about his diagnosis, precautions he has taken, and urged his fans to stay safe.

He also revealed that he has been quarantined since Broadway shows shut down on March 12.

Tveit wrote: ‘Hey everyone. I just wanted to update you all that I’ve found out that I’ve tested positive for Covid-19.’

As he has taken the necessary precautions, things already seem to be looking up for Aaron since the shut down of Broadway as he continued: ‘I’m feeling much better.

‘I consider myself extremely lucky that my symptoms have been very mild – cold like with no fever – as so many are experiencing much more serious symptoms, because this is a very dangerous virus.’

As several high-profile individual who have tested positive for coronavirus, including NBA players Donovan Mitchell and Kevin Durant, are seemingly asymptomatic the actor shared a helpful tip to those not feeling much different to self diagnose.

‘I’m feeling much better’: The 36-year-old actor of stage and screen took to his Instagram on Monday morning to share a snap of his beloved dog Miles with a lengthy caption about his diagnosis, precautions he has taken, and urged his fans to stay safe

He wrote:  ‘One thing I have been experiencing is the loss of taste and smell, which I think is a big sign for people who are otherwise asymptotic.

‘I was tested last Monday, and just found out the results, however, I have been taking this situation extremely seriously, even before I was tested.’

As there are more than 20,000 cases of COVID-19 in the state of New York with 12,000 in New York City alone, Tveit wants everyone to understand that anyone can come down with the illness.

He wrote: ‘I want everyone to realize that this can affect anyone. And even if you aren’t feeling sick or showing drastic symptoms – please take heed, stay safe, stay healthy and I hope to see everyone at the theater again soon.

‘And I wanted to post this with a picture of Miles because, they’re loving all this extra time at home with their Humans!’

Aaron joins several actors who have revealed their diagnosis including Idris Elba, Olga Kurylenko, Tom Hanks, and wife Rita Wilson.

The actor began his professional career in 2003 when he joined the national tour of Rent as Steve and understudy for Roger/Mark.

Years later he made his Broadway debut as Link Larkin in Hairspray after being cast in the same role for the national tour.

He received acclaim in 2007 for his role in an Off-Broadway production of Next To Normal which earned him a nomination for the Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Featured Actor.

Aaron’s work on Broadway also brought him opportunities in television including a recurring role as Tripp van der Bilt in Gossip Girl, Ugly Better, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

More recently he starred as Danny Zuko alongside Julianne Hough and Vanessa Hudgens in Fox’s Grease Live in 2016. 

Last year he starred as Christian in the Broadway production of Moulin Rouge!
