Today host Karl Stefanovic reveals his plan to beat the coronavirus toilet paper shortage after discovering he’s only ‘got three rolls left’

As coronavirus panic buying causes supermarkets to run out of toilet paper, Karl Stefanovic has revealed his plan to beat the shortage.

The 45-year-old Today host is down to his last three rolls and, after struggling to find any more in stores, has had to find an alternative solution.

He told Hit105’s Stav, Abby and Matt on Thursday: ‘I’m looking into getting one of those fancy bidet things on the inter-web.’

Desperate times: As coronavirus panic buying causes supermarkets to run out of toilet paper, Karl Stefanovic has revealed his plan to beat the shortage

‘They’re really expensive now. They’re like $350 to $400, which to me is a lot of money,’ he added.

Despite reporting on the issue for months, Karl had ‘refused’ to believe panic buying was an issue until he discovered there wasn’t any toilet roll at his local supermarket.

Radio host Abby Coleman suggested that Karl could just take a shower after using the toilet instead of installing a bidet.

‘I don’t want to have no gap between what’s coming out and my hand,’ he replied.

‘It used to happen in Bali when I was doing stories over there all the time. You go to the loo and there was a bucket near the toilet. And I was like, “That is bloody filthy.”‘

It comes after Karl revealed how the COVID-19 outbreak had impacted his family.

During a segment about mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic, he revealed that his 70-year-old mother, Jenny, was ‘terribly anxious’.

She is particularly worried about not being able to meet her granddaughter when Karl and his wife, Jasmine Yarbrough, welcome their first child in the coming weeks.

Karl has been reassuring his mother, who is based in Queensland, that she will get to hold his baby daughter once Australia has recovered from the crisis.
